In this example, we show a start-to-finish tub and shower. It started out with
Durock on the walls. We installed a dry pack floor sloped to drain and once it
dried, we covered it with a waterproof membrane (this is the “Shlueter” system).
In addition, we covered the walls with a waterproof membrane (“Dietra” type
membrane). Finally, we commenced tiling; the shower floor was tiled first, marble
sills second, and lastly the walls... and voilà, we had a finished product! Of course,
it wasn’t completely finished until the tile was cleaned and silicone was added to
the corners. Furthermore, the plumbing fixtures had to go back on and the shower
glass doors had to be fabricated. As can be depicted from the last picture,
we included a surface mounted soap dish and corner caddie.
